This duo was only able to issue a single long player – well two, if you count The Dwella’s as an extension of this first disc. And I suppose, you should. Anyway, the 1996 Realms ‘n Reality featured Cella Dwella’s best known track, “Land of the Lost.” Its beat comes off as characteristically nineties with that steady drum beat and acoustic bass sample. Lumping these guys into the Horrorcore thing, which somehow still persists today, is a bit reductive. Wu Tang doesn’t generally get tossed into that sort of figuring, but whatever. The rhymes here are top shelf and delivered in a wealth of rhythms, occasionally blood spattered, but nothing utterly ridiculous. The remainder of the album isn’t much more that musical variations on Cella Dwella’s best known effort. Of course, seeing as that beat’s monstrous, there shouldn’t be any complaining. And if there is, Ug and Phantasm might show up at your door.
